RedTail Men’s Track Shows Toughness at Drake Relays

DES MOINES-The RedTail Men's Track and Field team grinded out a competitive showing despite the tough weather at the Drake Relays on April 23-24.
The RedTails were highlighted by freshman Blake Osborn, who placed fifth overall in the 200-meter dash running a 21.96. Osborn followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 400, qualifying for the national meet with his 48.25 time.
Blake Veenstra continued his outstanding season of throwing, placing fifth in the shotput and ninth in the discus. Despite the cold weather conditions, Veenstra still managed to throw 15.94 meters in the shotput and 47.58 meters in the discus.
Sam Mickelson capped off the weekend for the RedTails by qualifying in both the 5000 and the steeplechase for the national meet.
"I'm proud of how well the guys bounced back as they handled a heavy workload with a short period of time," said head coach Tyler Mulder.
The RedTail men will look to continue their success at the NJCAA Region IX in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Sunday, April 25.
