Men’s Track and Field Add Champions, Break School Records, at Outdoor Championships

The RedTail Men's Track and Field team traveled to Council Bluffs for the Region XI Outdoor Championships on May 1-2. The team took fourth place overall at the competition.

JoJo Frost took home the gold in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.64 seconds. Frost holds the school record in this race and is ranked third in the NJCAA. His performance also added 10 team points for the RedTails.

Blake Veenstra added another first place finish for the RedTails in the shot put with a mark of 15.51m. He followed up with two more impressive performances, taking second place in the discus and the hammer throw. Veenstra holds the school record for all three events. 

Sam Mickelson took third place in the steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 40.84 seconds. 

Blake Osborn took home sixth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.40 seconds. He also competed in the high jump and landed a third place finish with a mark of 6'4.75. Osborn also took eleventh place out of 40 in a competitive 100-meter race. 

Connor Belken landed a fifth place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 48.04 seconds. Belken now holds the school record in this race and has punched his ticket to nationals.

Koby Brackemeyer had an impressive performance in the 800-meter run, finishing third overall and adding six team points. 

Harrison Vanderlinden took home a strong fifth place finish in the 5000-meter run. Vanderliden also finished seventh in the 1500-meter run and eighth in the 10,000-meter run.
