Lucas Stearns Commits to Hawkeye Track & Field

CEDAR FALLS-Local sprinter Lucas Stearns has committed to the RedTail Track & Field program at Hawkeye Community College.

Stearns has been circling the oval since seventh grade and is primarily a sprinter. Stearns is attending Cedar Falls High School and is getting ready for his senior season. Stearns plans to study business as a RedTail.

"I've been competing in track for six years. Made the top 10 fastest freshmen in the 100 at Cedar Falls and have gotten the blue standard in the 4x100," says Stearns. "I never thought I would love running as much as I would! I'm excited to go and run at Hawkeye as this program is small, but I feel I can bring energy and leadership to help this team reach its full potential. I'm really excited to get to know my teammates and coaches even more and create bonds with them as we run together!"
