RedTail Men’s Track and Field Team Takes on the Spartan Shootout

The RedTail Men's Track and Field team traveled to Dubuque on Saturday, February 1, to compete at the Spartan Shootout. Overall, the men finished in sixth place out of nine teams with a team score of 45.
Two men participated in the high jump including Nathan McFarland, who finished in second place with a jump of 1.95m, and Xavier Codling, who finished in fourth place with a jump of 1.85m.
Ryan Leonard was the sole participant in the pole vault and he finished in sixth place with a mark of 2.90m.
In the long jump was Jaxon Weber, who placed 18th with a jump of 5.33m.
Three RedTails threw in the men's shot put. Edde Gonzalez threw 8.90m and placed 25th, Tyler Bartels threw 8.71m and placed 26th, and rounding out the RedTails was Ryan Leonard who threw 7.19m, landing him in 28th place.
Making the finals for the men's 60m race was Aldaine Angus, who finished in second place overall in a time of 6.95.
Competing in the 200m race were Liam Carlson (22.90), who finished in ninth place, Aldaine Angus (23.03), who finished in 10th place, and Jaxon Weber (25.77), who finished in 37th place.
Vance Brunham led the RedTail men in the 400m race, finishing in third place in a time of 51.59. Following him were Anthoneih Kopsa in 19th place (55.97) and Bright Agamah in 23rd place (58.88).
Three RedTails participated in the men's 800m race. In 11th place was William Bryant, who finished in a time of 2:05.15. Brennen Sager crossed the finish line in 15th place in 2:06.70, and Tynan Van der Veer finished in 19th place in 2:16.78.
Samuel Brace competed in the 5000m race and crossed the finish line in fifth place, finishing in a time of 20:20.11.
In the finals for the 60m hurdles was Tyler Bartels, who finished in fifth place and clocked a time of 9.15.
The 4x400 relay consisted of two RedTail squads. In third place were Xavier Codling, Vance Burnham, Ryan Leonard, and William Bryant, completing the relay in a time of 3:26.62, and in 11th place were Aldaine Angus, Tyler Bartels, Anthoneih Kopsa, and Liam Carlson, closing with a time of 3:52.06.
Coach Scott Roberts had this to say about the meet: "Our men's 4x400 relay ran about five seconds or more faster than they have run all season. Overall, we were fairly pleased."
The RedTails return to the track on Friday, February 7, when they compete at the Friday Knight Lights at Wartburg College.
