RedTail Men’s Track and Field Team Compete at the Mississippi River Rumble

The RedTail track and field teams traveled to Dubuque on Saturday, April 5, to compete at the Mississippi River Rumble, hosted by the University of Dubuque. The results for each race and field event are below:
In the men's 100m finals, Aldaine Angus finished in second place in a time of 10.75, and also breaking in the top-10 was Liam Carlson in sixth place in a time of 11.04.
Competing in the 200m race were Liam Carlson, who placed fifth place (22.57), and Aldaine Angus, who placed tenth (22.82).
Vance Burnham was the leading RedTail in the men's 400m race, finishing in second place with a time of 50.40. Behind him were William Bryant in 11th place with a time of 52.91, and Anthoneih Kopsa in 19th place with a time of 59.71.
Two RedTails ran in the men's 800m race including Brennen Sager, who finished in 15th place (2:09.99), and Samuel Brace, who finished in 18th place (2:25.63).
Tyler Bartels made it to the finals in the men's 110 hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 16.58.
The 4x100 team brought home first place in a time of 42.01. The relay included Aldaine Angus, Xavier Codling, Vance Burnham, and Liam Carlson.
Finishing in second place in the 4x400 relay were Vance Burnham, Xavier Codling, William Bryant, and Ryan Leonard with a time of 3:40.33, and in fourth place were Tyler Bartels, Travis Brace, Edde Gonzalez, and Anthoneih Kopsa with a time of 3:49.13.
For the field events, Aldaine Angus won gold, placing first in the men's long jump with a best mark of 6.71m. Following him in eighth place was Travis Brace, putting up a 5.92m mark. In 12th place was Tyler Bartels with a 5.69m best mark, and just behind him in 15th place was Edde Gonzalez with a best mark of 5.03m.
Adam Smith competed in the men's discus, finishing in eighth place and a best mark of 43.05m, and in the hammer throw, 11th place finish and a mark of 44.64m.
The final event for the men's field events was the javelin, and there were four RedTails competing. The top finisher for the team was Tyler Bartels in tenth place with a best mark of 40.32m. In 19th place was Travis Brace with a best mark of 32.45m, Jaxon Weber in 20th place with a best mark of 31.69m, and rounding out the RedTails was Edde Gonzalez with a best mark of 26.07m.
Coach Scott Roberts had this to say after the meet: "We had some good performances. Aldaine Angus was able to pull a victory out of the long jump and we were able, again, to win the 4x100 for the second week in a row.
We want to continue to progress as we get toward the conference meet in the fairly short outdoor season that we have."
The RedTail track and field team will return to the track this weekend in Cedar Rapids where they will compete at the Mustang Distance Carnival & Open.
