RedTails Run Over Waverly at John Kurtt Invite

The Hawkeye men and women cross country teams took the short trip to Waverly to compete in the John Kurtt Invite. The weather was brisk but perfect running conditions for all those competing. The Max Cross Country Course, according to head coach Scott Roberts, was a more challenging and more elevation changing course. Roberts added his thoughts from the day.

"I thought our kids performed well. On the women's side, Freshman Roselle Wardell ran a seasons best time of 21:47 to finish 35th and London Montgomery made her season debut in 29.53.3 to take 48th place. Roselle got out in 6:35 at the first mile and London was 8:30, which is were we wanted them to be.  They will improve each week.

The men ran the 6K for the first time this year, which was 1K farther than last week.  Brennan Sager led the Redtails with a time of 21:29 to take 56th in a tough field. Sam Brace was next in 24:09.8 for 69th place and his brother Travis Brace also broke 30 minutes with a time of 29:26.5 to finish 72nd.

Coach Roberts also added that "the teams ran with more confidence and their conditioning is improving each week." Both teams are excited to head up to Mason City on Friday to compete against NIACC at the Trent Smith Invitational.
