RedTail Sports Shooting Ends Regular Season With A Last Win

The RedTails competed against the Kirkwood Eagles on Saturday, October 14, at the Izaak Walton League in Waterloo.

Saturday was a windy and chilly day but that didn't stop the RedTails from blowing out the Eagles with an overall team score of 475. Lydia Covert brought home first place with 88 targets as her individual score and Haley Starmer placed third with 84 targets. Colton Crooks took first place for the men's individual category and led the team with a total of 99 targets and 75 straight. Blaedyn Benscoter had a 97 target performance, taking second place. Elliot Brincks earned his second medal of the season, earning third place with a 95 targets performance.

Head coach Troy Emley had some positive words after a successful season.

"We did well today, our student-athletes have high expectations for themselves and we make the most of every target opportunity," he said. "We defended our home field and finished the season with an East Division Trap-singles Championship, and an East Division Skeet Championship. We let our East Division Championship in Sporting Clays slip between our fingers this year. We hope to recover from our illnesses this week, and head into ICCAC Conference Championships and Iowa SCTP State Championships with our best efforts"

The RedTails will compete in the ICCAC conference and state championship on Saturday, October 21, at the New Pioneer Clay Target Range.
