RedTail Sports Shooting Competes in the ICCAC Championships

The Hawkeye RedTail Sports Shooting team traveled to New Pioneer Clay Target Center in Waukee to participate in the ICCAC Championships (all ICCAC teams are eligible) and the Iowa SCTP Junior College Clay Target Championships (all Iowa SCTP Junior College Collegiate Teams are eligible) which are concurrent to each other.
The ICCAC Trap-Singles Championship was decided on Saturday in a tournament style. The RedTails were unable to defend their back-to-back Trap-Singles Championships; were not able to participate in the ICCAC Championship, due to an early exit from the Clay Target Craziness, tournament style championship. The RedTails lost to Iowa Central Tritons in the semifinal round; so, the Iowa Western Reivers took on the Iowa Central Tritons for the Trap-Singles Championship, with Iowa Western Reivers winning the championship.
The ICCAC Sporting Clays Championship was decided on Saturday. The RedTails had a program best runner-up finish, which included a new ICCAC Championship record team performance, 262 targets, taking our top three shooters. Chase Bindl led all scores with 94 targets, setting a new school record forthe Hawkeye RedTails and the Championships. "It is fun to watch how Chase thinks and is able to break targets, on the sporting clays course.", voiced coach Troy Emley.
The ICCAC Skeet Championship was decided on Sunday. TheRedTails had a program best finish, earning an ICCAC Skeet Championship. Colton Crooks led the way with a personal best and school record 100 Straight targets. The Skeet Championship team included: Chase Bindl, Elliott Brincks, Landan Carson , Mason Goche, and also included in this squad is Abbie Hill; Hawkeye RedTails had three participants (Landan, Mason, and Abbie) tie with 95 targets to make the team score.
"I am really proud of Colton's performance; he has been seeking his 100 Straight in Skeet since he joined us. He got'r done!", voiced coach Emley."We have a really deep team of very good shooters! I am very proud of them!"
The Hawkeye RedTails will rest and focus on their in the classroom successes during this Winter. But, they are looking forward to the ACUI/SCTP College Nationals in San Antonio, Texas, at the National Shooting Complex, on March 16–22, 2025.
