RedTail Softball Adds Olivia Techam to 2024 Recruiting Class

RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Olivia Techam to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Techam is the daughter of James and Amy Techam and attends Osseo High School in Osseo, Minnesota. Techam plans on studying social work and psychology during her time at Hawkeye.

“I am very excited to have Olivia in our program. She comes from a family of athletes, and she has the traits to be a very successful player at our level,” commented Coach Calkins. “I love watching Olivia compete on the field because she is a go-getter and isn’t afraid to put everything on the line for her team.”

A corner infielder for the Orioles, Techam has found a lot of success on the field. She hit for a .325 batting average with an on-base percentage of .413. She also had nine runs scored, six runs batted in, and seven stolen bases. Her senior season is currently underway.

For her efforts, Techam has lettered three times for softball. She also played volleyball during her time at Osseo, lettering three times as well. Outside of athletics, she was also named for Oriole of Excellence her freshman year, and has been on the B Honor Roll every trimester. She is also the president of the Unified Club.

Techam had this to say about choosing Hawkeye: “I am excited because I love the energy the coach brings and just to have a new beginning with new teammates.”

“Olivia does a great job on the field. She has great glove work and is able to play almost any spot on the infield. She has a solid bat and will be a good hitter in the middle of our lineup. She will be a big impact player for us and I can’t wait to watch her grow as a player these next two years!” said Coach Calkins.
