Tritons Bats Too Much for RedTails

The Hawkeye RedTails traveled to Fort Dodge, IA to compete in a conference double header against Iowa Central Community College. The RedTails dropped both games, losing game one 14-0 and losing game two 8-0.

 

Game 1: 0 (HCC), 14 (ICCC)

Kisha Reed started the game with a double, but that was the only hit during the game that the RedTails could muster.

Iowa Central came out and scored one run in the bottom of the first inning off of two singles and a stolen base. They continued to expand their lead in the second inning by scoring three more runs to put them up 4-0. Going into the bottom of the third, the Tritons tacked on another four runs to lead the RedTails 8-0. In the bottom of the fourth, the Tritons continued their hot bats and scored six more runs, giving them the 14-0 win in five innings.

The RedTails were led at the plate by Kisha Reed, who was 1-2 with a double. Sidney Schafer took the loss on the mound, going 3.1 innings, giving up thirteen hits, 8 earned runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Courtney Hemsley pitched 0.2 innings, giving up no hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.

 

Game 2: 0 (HCC), 8 (ICCC)

The Tritons struck first and never looked back in game two. They scored five quick runs in the bottom of the first inning. They did this off of five hits and one walk.

Bottom of the second inning saw two more runs scored for the Tritons, giving them the 7-0 lead. They added one more run in the bottom of the third to be up 8-0.

Courtney Hemsley added the lone hit in the game, hitting a solid shot to right field for a single, but the RedTails couldn't capitalize.

Courtney Hemsley went 1-2 at the plate. Dharma Woodruff took the loss on the mound, giving up 8 hits, 8 earned runs, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

 

The RedTails move to 4-18 on the season and 0-6 in conference play. Hawkeye will be back in action this weekend with four more games against conference opponents. The RedTails will play at Ellsworth Community College on Saturday, April 6th and at Iowa Lakes Community College on Sunday, April 7th.
