Exciting Seventh Inning Helps RedTails Sweep the Wolves

Your Lady RedTails earned two wins against Metropolitan Community College. The RedTails had two exciting games, winning game one 7-6 and game two 12-10.
Game One: 7 (HCC), 6 (MCC)
The RedTails bats started off strong scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.
The RedTails gave up one run in the bottom of the first, making the score 2-1 in favor of Hawkeye.
A quiet second and third inning led to a big fourth inning for both teams. The RedTails scoring four runs and holding the Wolves to three, giving the RedTails a 6-4 lead.
The Wolves tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fifth.
Not to be outdone, the RedTails scored one more run in the top of the seventh for an insurance run, as they gave up one run in the bottom of the seventh, giving them the 7-6 win.
At the plate, Lizzy Hamand lead the way. She was 2-4 with three runs batted in, one run scored, and one homerun. Jordan Eads was 2-3, and Courtney Hemsley and Rylie Devlin each had a hit. On the mound, Mya Chamberlin took the win, going all seven innings, giving up nine hits, six runs, four earned, three walks, and three strikeouts.
Game Two: 12 (HCC), 10 (MCC)
A high scoring thriller was the name of the second game. Metropolitan jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but the RedTails didn't shy away from the challenge.
In the top of the third, the RedTails scored three quick runs from a Hamand homerun.
Hawkeye shut down the offense of Metropolitan in the bottom of the third to give them another chance at the plate. The RedTails scored four quick runs from a grandslam from Dharma Woodruff. The RedTails were now up 7-5.
The bottom of the fourth saw some life for the Wolves, as they scored three runs to go up 8-7, and they added on another run in the bottom of the fifth.
Down 9-7 in the top of the seventh, the RedTails saw some fight. The RedTails scored one run quickly, and with one out and bases loaded, Jordan Eads stepped up to hit a grandslam to put the game away, giving the RedTails a 12-9 lead. Hawkeye gave up one run in the bottom of the seventh but stopped the threat quickly.
At the plate, Eads was 2-4 with three runs scored and four runs batted in. Woodruff added a grandslam, going 2-3 at the plate, scoring one run herself and had four runs batted in. Hamand added a homerun, and Devlin had two hits of her own. On the mound, Eads took the win, making it her first collegiate win. She threw 3.1 innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs, and striking out two.
The RedTails move to 3-5 on the season and face North Central Missouri College on March 2nd.
