RedTails Lose to Waubonsee Community College

The RedTail Softball Team had two games scheduled on Sunday, March 16th in Clermont, Florida. Due to weather, the RedTails only completed their first game against Waubonsee Community College. They lost 10-2.

Waubonsee struck first in the game, scoring four quick runs in the top of the first inning. They added two more runs in the second inning to go up 6-0.

Hawkeye scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second. Delaney Eickert singled and advanced to second when Courtney Hemsley was hit by a pitch. Jordan Eads then hit a single to score Eickert.

The Chiefs then added two more runs to their total in the top of the third.

A few quiet innings until the top of the sixth when Waubonsee tacked on another run, going up 9-1.

The RedTails strung a run together, scoring from an Olivia Techam single and a Lucy Lebo single.

Waubonsee added their tenth run in the top of the seventh and the RedTails were unable to score more, ending the game 10-2 in favor of the Chiefs.

Six RedTails had hits in the game, and Lebo and Eads each had a run batted in. Adelyn Sienknecht took the loss on the mound, going all seven innings, giving up 14 hits, seven earned runs, five walks, and two strikeouts.
