The RedTails travelled to Leesburg, Florida to play Lake Sumter State College. The RedTails lost both, losing game one 11-2 in six innings and game two 9-0 in five innings.
Game One: 11 (LSSC), 2 (HCC)
The RedTails started hot in inning one when Lucy Lebo walked and Mya Chamberlin hit a two-shot homerun to score.
Unfortunately, those would be the only runs to cross the plate during the game. It was two scoreless innings for Lake Sumter until the third inning when they scored two runs and added two more in the fourth. They had a big fifth inning scoring five runs, and ended the game early in the sixth when they scored two more runs.
At the plate, Chamberlin had one homerun, one run scored, and two runs batted in. Jordan Eads was 2-3 at the plate. On the mound, Chamberlin took the loss, going 4.2 innings, giving up eight hits, nine runs, seven earned, four walks, and three strikeouts. Adelyn Sienknecht threw 0.2 innings, giving up one hit, two runs, two earned, one walk, and one strikeout.
Game Two: 9 (LSSC), 0 (HCC)
The RedTails couldn't get their bats going in game two. Lizzy Hamand had a first inning double and Dharma Woodruff walked, but neither would cross home plate.
Lake Sumter scored three runs in the first inning, two in the second inning, and four in the fourth inning.
Hamand led the way at the plate, going 2-3 with one double. Eads had the other hit in the game. On the mound, Eads took the loss, going 3.1 innings, giving up nine hits, nine runs, seven earned, and two walks. Sienknecht also threw 0.2 innings, giving up just one hit and one strikeout.
The RedTails complete their Florida trip on Tuesday, March 18th at South Florida State College at 4:00 and 6:00 PM EST.
