RedTail Softball Loses Despite Solid Pitching Performances

The RedTails closed out their trip to Florida with two games against South Florida State College. The RedTails dropped both games, losing game one 4-0 and game two 6-1.
Game One: 4 (SFSC), 0 (HCC)
The RedTails were held scoreless throughout the game.
The Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the first, one run in the bottom of the fourth, and one run in the bottom of the sixth.
The RedTails were held to just three hits in the game, coming from Lucy Lebo, Dharma Woodruff, and Emilee Bergmann. On the mound, Jordan Eads pitched well, allowing seven hits, four runs, just two earned, and one walk in six innings of work.
Game Two: 6 (SFSC), 1 (HCC)
South Florida State College started the game with scoring one run in the bottom of the first.
Hawkeye put some pressure on the defense in the top of the second. Dharma Woodruff was hit by a pitch and moved to second when Ceyaira Barron walked. A hard hit ball by Rylie Devlin forced a Panther error to load the bases, and Courtney Hemsley hit a single to score Barron.
In the bottom of the third, the Panthers went ahead by scoring two more runs, making the score 3-1. They added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and one more run in the bottom of the fifth to lead 6-1.
The RedTails were unable to muster up some runs, giving them the loss.
Eads was 2-4 at the plate, and Woodruff, Hemsley, and Hailey Harbour each had hits of their own. On the mound, Adelyn Sienknecht took the loss, going five innings, giving up nine hits, six runs, four earned, five walks, and one strikeout. Hemsley pitched one inning, giving up no hits, no runs, and no walks.
The RedTails take a week off and are back on Tuesday, March 25th at home. They play against Mount Mercy and first pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
