RedTail Softball Gains Anderson

RedTail Softball Gains Anderson

RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Alyvia Anderson to the 2025-2026 recruiting class. Anderson is the daughter of Brooke and Chuck Anderson and attends Washington High School. Anderson plans on studying exercise science and kinesiology during her time at Hawkeye.

“Alyvia is going to be a great addition to our 2025 recruiting class!” commented Coach Courtney Calkins. “She is an outstanding student-athlete who emphasizes hard work and dedication both on and off the field. She is going to be a tremendous leader behind the plate and in the classroom for us next year.”

A catcher and utility player for Demons, Anderson had a great junior season. She hit .375 with a .431 on base percentage. She collected 45 hits, 10 doubles, and three homeruns. She hit in 43 of her teammates and scored nine times herself. She also maintained a .984 fielding percentage. For her efforts, she has been named Second Team-All Conference. She also earned KCII Athlete of the Week and All-SouthEast Iowa Union Softball Team.

Outside of softball, she has also been a four-time Cross-Country All-Conference runner. Academically, she has been four-time Academic All-Conference for both softball and cross country. She has earned three-time Academic All-Conference for soccer, and one time Academic All-Conference for track and field and basketball. Anderson is also involved in National Honor Society. She volunteers her time at St. James Catholic Church, is a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is involved in Earth Club.

Anderson had this to say about choosing Hawkeye: “I chose Hawkeye Community College because I think it has the best opportunities for me academically and athletically. I think it is a great stepping stone to begin the  next chapter of my life, and I am really excited to see what these next two years at Hawkeye will include!”

“Alyvia is going to really add to our program. She has the ability to be a solid catcher but also a solid utility player, being able to adapt to any spot on the field. At the plate, she connects barrel to ball, giving her the ability to be a big threat in our lineup. I can’t wait to watch her grow these next two years!” said Coach Calkins.
