Women's Soccer Takes Down Northeastern

WATERLOO- RedTail Women's Soccer faced off against tough Northeastern Community College at home on October 12, where they would sneak out a victory 1-0.

The RedTails had their hands full with a very good Northeastern team who came into the game with a 14-1-1 record. A defensive battle broke out between the two teams with very few shots on goal for either team which resulted in a 0-0 game at the half. In the second half it was more of the same with neither team able to pull ahead and take the lead. This would lead to a tie and go into overtime. The RedTails would find that spark at the 92:32 minute mark with a goal from Ellie Gutcher and assisted by Alina Bruhlmeier which would give the RedTails the victory 1-0.

Women's head coach Chris Rennie had some positive words to say about how the girls played.

"From day one building our team culture and chemistry has been a huge priority to the coaching staff and players," he said. "We knew playing a nationally ranked team was always going to be hard but the girls bought into our game plan and did everything that we asked of them. I couldn't be prouder of this group of players and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to go on this journey with them but it doesn't stop here."

The RedTails next matchup will be on the road Saturday, October 15, at 3:30pm. against NIACC.
