RedTails Women's Soccer team wins against Western Iowa Tech 1-0

The RedTails Women's Soccer team won against Western Iowa Technical college, a team ranked ninth in the country, on Saturday, September 28, with a score 1-0.

The RedTails secured a lead in the first half with Jil Lehmann, assisted by Jael Bruhlmeier, scoring the only goal of the game. From there the RedTails played a strong defensive game never letting Western Iowa Tech score a point. The RedTails Goalie, Kim Bircher, ended the game with five saves.

Here is what the head coach, Christopher Rennie, had to say about the game:"Today we knew it was a big game against a very good team. I think you could see early on that both teams were a little nervous and neither tema wanted to make the mistake but we grew into the game and scored our goal at an important time. The second half we had to be extremely focused and we had to work incredibly hard, but we were able to defend our lead and get an important result against the number nine team in the country. We as a coaching staff are extremely proud of what the ladies have put into these last two games but we must now maintain those standards and levels for the remaining run in."

The RedTails will play against North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday, October 2.
