RedTails Reach New Levels At Grandview Invite

The RedTail Women's Track and Fields had an outstanding weekend at the Grandview Invite that took place Friday, April 9. 

 

The team was highlighted by the women's Heptathlon. Two freshmen, Margaret Nielsen and  Carlie Hoppe, made their debut in the event which consisted of the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 2000-meter dash, long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run. The ladies' hard work did not go unnoticed as Nielsen finished third and Hoppe in seventh. They put up a number of personal best marks and kicked off the meet!  

 

Jenna Hummel ran a strong race in the women's 100 with a time of 13.23, which placed her in eighth. 

 

Ryann Portch dominated the women's 800-meter run, coming in first place for the event with a time of 2:21.92. Emma Drake and Sophie Spargur had breakthrough performances in the same event, Spargur placing fourth and Drake in seventh.  

 

Maddy Lenaerts put up a good run for the women's 400-meter dash where she finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:03.82.  

 

Kaylee Leicht ran a strong 1500-meter run leading a majority of her race to place second overall with a time of 5:13.58. 

 

The women's throw group was led by Mari Shavers who Coach Tyler Mulder said, " really held down as she won the discus and put up personal best throws!" 

 

The RedTails will be back to make their mark once again at the Mustang Open on Saturday, April 17, in Cedar Rapids.
