RedTail Women’s Track and Field Take Fourth at Outdoor Championships

The RedTail Women's Track and Field team traveled to Council Bluffs for the Region XI Outdoor Championships on May 1-2. The women took fourth place at the competition.

"Overall the women took fourth place and competed well. We added lots of new personal records and season best times across the board. I couldn't be more happy for how the team responded," says head coach Tyler Mulder. 

Ryann Portch and Kaylee Leicht took second and third place in the 800-meter run. Their impressive performances scored 14 total points for the RedTails and landed them All-Region honors.

Maddy Lenaerts made herself known with a second place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. She recorded a personal record time of 1 minute, 11 seconds during her second time ever competing in this event. 

The RedTails 800-meter relay team of Emma Drake, Sophie Spargur, Leicht, and Portch took home a third place finish and All-Region honors. 

Carlie Hoppe and Margaret Nielsen finished fourth and fifth and added nine total points in the heptathlon. Hoppe and Nielsen are qualified for nationals in this event, ranked 14th and 16th overall.

Kylee Neighbors landed a second place finish in the high jump with a personal best outdoor mark of 5'1. She also added a seventh place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. 

Mari Shavers added three third place finishes for the RedTails in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. Alyssa Striegel added a fourth place finish in the discus.
