RedTail Women’s Track and Field Team Brings Home Fifth Place at Spartan Shootout

The RedTail Women's Track and Field team traveled to Dubuque on Saturday, February 1, to compete at the Spartan Shootout. Overall, the women finished in fifth place out of eleven teams with a team score of 42.

 

Hamila Biggs finished second place in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.50m and Mallori Jones in fifth place with a mark of 1.45m.

 

Making a first place finish in the long jump was Hamila Biggs with a 5.28m jump and right behind her in second place was Alyssa Wondercheck with a jump of 4.97m. In eighth place was Tasha Williams with a best mark of 4.53m.

 

Five women competed in the shot put for the RedTail women. In 17th place was Darcee O'Loughlin, throwing 9.37m. Ella Audorff was not far behind in 19th place with a throw measuring 8.96m. Annabell Veryard threw 7.98m, landing her a 23rd place finish. Rounding out the RedTails in the shot put were Breanna Swaby (7.44m) in 27th place and Emer Mcauliffe (5.76m) in 29th place. 

 

In the weighted throw, Darcee O'Loughlin threw 11.49m and finished in 11th place. In 13th place was Annabell Veryard, who threw for 10.86m. Breanna Swaby threw 10.30m, earning her a 15th place finish and Olivia Hammel finished in 19th place with a throw of 9.49m. In 22nd place for the RedTails was Ella Audorff, who threw 7.57m.

 

Competing in the women's 60m race was Tasha Williams, who finished in 10th place and crossed the finish line in 8.40.

 

Mallori Jones represented the RedTails in the 400m and earned the seventh place spot, finishing the race in 1:05.17.

 

In the finals for the women's 60 hurdles was Tasha Williams. She finished the race in seventh place overall in a time of 11.97.

 

The women's 4x400 relay consisted of Mallori Jones, Tasha Williams, Alyssa Wondercheck, and Halima Biggs. The squad finished in fourth place with a final finishing time of 4:32.03.

 

Coach Scott Roberts had this to say about the meet: "We had a couple of personal bests on the women's side and overall, we were fairly pleased. We have a meet Friday night and then we will start getting ready for the regional meet on the 21st and 22nd."

 

The RedTails return to the track on Friday, February 7, when they compete at the Friday Knight Lights at Wartburg College.
