RedTails Remain Undefeated After Beating Blackhawks 3-1 

The RedTail Volleyball team continued their winning streak by defeating the Southeastern Community College Blackhawks in an exciting four-set match (14-25, 27-25, 25-9, 25-14) in Burlington on Thursday, January 28. 

After a slow start for the RedTails in set one, they were unable to catch the Blackhawks and fell in a hard-fought battle. The RedTails walked on the court determined at the start of set two, where they continuously traded the lead with the Blackhawks before the blue and orange were able to pull ahead by two points. 

Set three started out as a nail-biter before the RedTails took the lead 11-6, causing a Blackhawks timeout. The RedTails continued their impressive play and took the lead 17-7 before continuing on to take the set. The blue and orange ended the night in an exciting fashion with an 11-point victory and leading the Blackhawks 12-8 in kills.

The RedTails played strong at the net throughout the match, with middle blocker Jessica Jacobs leading the RedTails with 12 kills. Outside hitters Amber Rickert and Emily Clapp were close behind, tallying eight and nine for the night. Libero Bailey Hoff led the team defensively with 28 digs. 

"We had a good first week and we're looking to keep the success going on the road this week," says head coach Tyann Caspers.

Next up, the RedTails travel to Estherville to take on Iowa Lakes Community College on Tuesday, February 2.
