RedTails Fall 3-1 to Fifth-Ranked Iowa Central

The RedTails fell 3-1 to the Iowa Central Community College Tritons in a competitive four-set match (18-25, 9-25, 25-22, 21-25) at home on Tuesday, February 9.

"Our girls fought hard on defense and to stay in the rallies," said head coach Tyann Caspers. "Moving forward we need to find ways to terminate."

The RedTails created an exciting atmosphere during sets one and two, but they were unable to pull ahead. Bailey Hoff and Amber Rickert led the RedTails in digs with 30 and 22.  Emily Clapp led the RedTails offensively, tallying 12 kills on the night. Haley Eckerman and Rickert followed, each tallying nine.

In set three, the RedTails came out strong with a kill percentage of .189 compared to Iowa Central's .152. The RedTails gained the lead 20-14 and continued their impressive play throughout the set, taking the three-point win.

The blue and orange took the lead early in set four, remaining strong at the net with attacks coming from left and right. They trailed 20-22 before a Triton timeout, but were unable to catch up, dropping the match 3-1.

Next, the RedTails travel to Creston to take on Southwestern Community College on Sunday, February 14.
