RedTails Fall to Conference Rival Kirkwood Eagles

CEDAR RAPIDS–The RedTail Volleyball team took the 3-1 loss (14-25, 18-25, 25-22, 17-25) in Friday's (2/26/21) match against the Kirkwood Eagles.

The RedTails were hindered by their slow starts in sets one and two, and found themselves in a 2-0 hole early. The team was able to regroup in set three, coming away with a 25-22 win. Unfortunately, their efforts came up short, as the Eagles went on to win set four and the match.

Freshman Amber Cooling and Madison Fillinger both put together solid performances throughout the match. Cooling recorded 20 assists and chipped in seven digs, while Fillinger recorded 17 assists with two service aces.

"[It was a] tough loss, but luckily we get to play them again this year so we are really looking forward to some big matches coming up," said head coach Tyann Caspers.

The RedTails will look to turn it around when they face the fifth-ranked DMACC Bears in a Sunday (2/26/21) showdown at home.
