RedTail Volleyball Overcomes Slow Start to Beat NIACC

MASON CITY–The RedTail Volleyball team came away with a 3-1 win in a rematch against NIACC on Tuesday night (15-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-22).

The two squads met earlier this season in Waterloo, where the RedTails came away with a thrilling 3-2 win. After losing set one 25-15, the RedTails knew that they had to regroup and refocus if they wanted to win the match. The women went on to win three straight sets, picking up a big road win.

Sophomore Amber Rickert and freshman Bailey Hoff both had phenomenal performances defensively, combining for 49 total digs. Rickert also contributed nine kills and two service aces to cap off a great all-around performance.

"We came out of the match on top, and learned a lot about things we need to get better at," said head coach Tyann Caspers.

The RedTails will return home Thursday, March 4, to take on Southeastern Community College.
