RedTail Volleyball Falls to #5 Iowa Central

FORT DODGE–The RedTail Volleyball team lost in three sets (21-25, 13-25, 21-25) to the #5 Iowa Central Community College Tritons on Sunday, March 7.

Coming into the match, the #8 RedTails were hoping for a road upset against the top-5 ranked Tritons. The women came up just short in set one, losing 21-25. In a crucial set two, a 10-0 Triton run proved to be the difference as the RedTails fell 13-25. Down 2-0, the RedTails were not able to put together the rallies that they needed to make a comeback, losing set three 25-21.

Despite the tough outing, sophomore Jessica Jacobs kept up her great play, recording a team-high 10 kills.

"We started the match really strong with solid rallies and moments of brilliance, but when Iowa Central put the pressure on us, we did not respond well enough to get the win," said assistant coach Molly Shamansky. "Iowa Central exposed a few weaknesses within our offensive and defensive systems, so we are taking this loss as an opportunity to improve and make adjustments to be ready for the postseason."

The RedTails will look for a bounce back win on Thursday, March 11, when they take on Marshalltown Community College.
