RedTails Defeat the Panthers in a 3-0 Match

WATERLOO- The eighth-ranked RedTails back in action against the Ellsworth Panthers on Thursday, March 11. It was another clean sweep for the RedTails.

 

In the first set the RedTails took the lead by two or three points at most. Halfway through, the Panthers' called their first timeout, RedTails were still leading at 16-8. After the first timeout the Panthers still gave it their all, sneaking up on the RedTails towards the end of the game, 19-17. The RedTails proved their dominance at the second timeout 22-18. The RedTails won the first set, 25-18.

 

The Panthers took the lead in the second set; however, by the first timeout RedTails took control by one point, 6-5. RedTails continued their lead throughout the remainder of the set, their points even doubling that of the Panthers. At the second timeout it is evident that The RedTails are killing it with 20 points and the Panthers at seven. The RedTails dominated this set winning 25-11.

 

In the third and final set the RedTails continued their lead by four points against the Panthers at the start, 8-4. By the first timeout the RedTails led by six, 14-8. RedTails once again cruised to a victory, 25-19.

 

"I think during the match we were pretty strong offensively. Coming up this Sunday our goal is to stay consistent in serve recieve," stated coach Tyann Caspers.

 

This was an outstanding game for sophomore Ashley Grapp, who led the team in kills with eight. Bailey Hoff who killed it in digs with an impressive 30 and Amber Cooling who came out on top with 16 assists. 

 

RedTails will be back at home Sunday, March 14, against Southwestern Community College at 1:00pm.
