RedTails Go 2-2 at Iowa Central Invite

The volleyball team traveled to Fort Dodge to compete in the Iowa Central Invite on September 6-7. They went 2-2 throughout the weekend, with matches on Friday against Illinois Central College falling 0-3 (22-25, 15-25, & 21-25) and Rochester Community and Technical College falling 0-3 (25-27, 23-25, & 21-25).

Despite the losses on Friday, the RedTails used this motivation to turn around on Saturday and win both of their matches. Their first match against Neosho County Community College went into five sets where they pulled off a reverse sweep winning 3-2 (15-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23, & 15-13). In their second match against #22 ranked Central Community College-Columbus they won 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, & 27-25).

Head coach Christy Mahi had some thoughts about the tournament:

"The girls really battled and believed in themselves and each other. That was definitely a breakthrough moment for us this season. We also had our first win over a ranked opponent when we beat #22 Central Community in three sets."

She also commented on the athletes performances over the weekend:

"Mallory Tisue definitely sticks out for her contribution. She doesn't normally play middle but had to step into the role due to our other middle hitters being plagued with injuries and illness. Mallory finished the weekend with 41 kills while hitting .311 on the weekend."

Other Statistics:

Emersyn Secora: 35 kills

Alexis Even: 45 kills

Ruby Patterson: 25 kills

Lexi Gehrke: contributed 50 digs
