Women's Cross Country Places 11th at Roy Griak Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The Hawkeye Community College men's and women's cross country teams took to the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis, Minnnesota to compete in one of the largest cross country meets in collegiate sports, the Roy Griak Invitational.

The meet consisted of six collegiate races and four high school races, and is one of the largest meets in the entire country, in all NCAA Divisions. Forty-three schools competed in the second division, and over 40 schools competed in the top division as well.

The women's team earned an 11th place finish in the Division III Women's Maroon Flight with a total of 299 team points. Freshman Joanna Topham paced the RedTails with a time of 25:42 to take a 30th place finish. Finishing second for the RedTails was sophomore Atlanta Groeneveld, who would finish with a time of 27:26. Right on her heels were teammates Shea Dahlstrom and Mikki Mundus, running times of 27:27 and 27:40 respectively. Rounding out the RedTail runners were Autumn Weekly with a time of 31:34 and Divine Washington finishing at a time of 36:31.

The women's cross country team will be in action next in Waverly for the Dan Huston Invite on Saturday, September 30th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:15.
